Videoconferencing should be as natural as possible. Through Intelligent Call ManagementTF, the TANDBERG 550 automatically configures itself to the best possible audio and video quality, guaranteeing the highest level of performance and the most natural of meeting environments, without the need for user intervention. Unlike traditional videoconferencing, TANDBERG systems operate with native video resolutions. The images maintain their true resolution, rather than being scaled to adapt to various formats. This is of particular benefit to users of NTSC and SVGA resolutions.

The Noise Reduction feature ensures clear speach transmission by eliminating surrounding noise, even when the videoconference takes place in a noisy environment. In addition, Automatic Gain Control ensures that no matter where individuals are located and regardless of the volume at which they speak, they will be heard at the same level at all remote sites. Even when the acoustic environment varies, the system is optimized to rapidly respond to these changes.

The wide angle of the TANDBERG 550´s integrated camera ensures that each person is clearly seen at the remote site.
The Presenter Package:
- Read with Ease—Digital ClarityTF aautomatically transmits live images from PCs and document cameras at a resolution four times that of standard videoconferencing quality (4CIF/4SIF), providing brilliant colors and crisp images.
- Easy PC Connection—PC SoftPresenterTF lets you connect your PC to the videoconferencing system using software and the Local Area Network (LAN). When "PC" is selected from the remote control, the PC and the video system will show the same live image on their monitors.
Wireless Flexibility
The TANDBERG 550 can be used on a wireless LAN. Companies using this type of network can insert a PC card into the top of the system; this in turn communicates with a wireless receiver, an access point. With the only wired connection being a power cable, the system can easily be moved around.
Streaming
The Streaming function sends images and sound to PCs linked to the Local Area Network (LAN). It is an excellent tool for broadcasting a speech, presentation or video meeting. The video and audio from both sites in the videoconference is streamed.
"On-the-Fly" Network Selection
A variety of bandwidth speeds and network selections are available on the TANDBERG 550 for specific applications and individual needs. The system will automatically detect whether the user is making an IP or ISDN call. Other external networks can also be selected using the on-screen menu, without rebooting the system.
Reliability Ensured
A successful videoconference depends on reliable connections without network interruptions. The unique DownspeedingTF feature maintains the call in progress, while the SoftMuxTF further enhances reliability.
