What is VoiceFinder?
VCON's VoiceFinder is a voice-activated camera tracking system. It consists of super-sensitive microphones mounted in a state-of-the-art, 3-D Perspex housing and a Digital Signal Processing unit (DSP). VoiceFinder is an optional add-on appliance which can be connected to VCON's group videoconferencing systems, making videoconferencing a completely "hands free" operation. Discover the new ease of videoconferencing with VoiceFinder.

How does VoiceFinder work?
When a videoconference is in progress, VoiceFinder analyzes the 3D space of the room and locates all meeting participants by the source of their voices. It controls the local PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) camera, causing it to alternate between speakers automatically. Remote participants can thus follow the conversation as if they were sitting around the table in the same boardroom. No more moving the camera manually, whether locally or with a Far End Camera Control (FECC) to focus on speakers at a remote site - VCON's VoiceFinder does it all automatically.

What makes VoiceFinder so special?
VCON's intelligent VoiceFinder is more than just another 3D audio analyzer. It has been specially designed to identify the main speakers and distinguish between them and others. In addition, it will not trigger the camera to switch between participants if one of them coughs, sneezes, or makes a short comment. The sophistication of VCON's VoiceFinder algorithm sets it apart from other voice-activated solutions on the market.

Which VCON systems support the VoiceFinder?
Voice-activated camera tracking is an essential function in group videoconferencing sessions. For this reason, VoiceFinder is supported by both VCON's group videoconferencing systems: VCON's flagship TV-based system, the MediaConnect 6000 Series (version 2.0) and VGA-based system, the MediaConnect 8000 Series (version 4.01).

Can I use VoiceFinder with earlier versions of VCON's products?
VoiceFinder is based on the latest VCON technology and as such is only compatible with MediaConnect 6000 (version 2.0) and MediaConnect 8000 (version 4.01). If not using them already, in order to use VoiceFinder you must first upgrade to one of these systems. For MC8000 users, the VTOP plastic base unit is also required for mounting purposes.

Why is VoiceFinder an external unit?
Unlike other built-in solutions available on the market, VoiceFinder was designed by VCON as an external unit, thus maximizing flexibility both in terms of price and scalability. VoiceFinder can thus be used with VCON's entire range of PC-based group videoconferencing systems.

Is VoiceFinder a software-only component?
VCON's optional add-on VoiceFinder unit consists of both hardware and software components. The VoiceFinder DSP black box contains a 3D analyzer and an intelligent software-based decision algorithm. Part of the decision algorithm also resides in the MediaConnect computer unit.

How do I connect VoiceFinder to my existing system?
The VoiceFinder DSP black box connects to the MediaConnect computer unit. VoiceFinder is not connected directly to the VTOP or PTZ camera, however, the camera sits snugly inside the VoiceFinder housing. In the case of the PTZ camera, an additional VTOP plastic base unit is required for mounting purposes.
